Here are 11 ways to increase your consulting fees.   I hope you try to implement some of them this month so you can see an immediate increase in your consulting income:

1.  Focus your fees on value and not on tasks. Focus on increasing sales, not on providing 5 training classes.  By focusing on the results you are bringing more value to the table.  By focusing on how many tasks you perform you are making yourself an hourly employee.

2.  Plan for repeat business right away. The majority of your business will be from repeat clients.  So right from the first few meetings act like this is a long term relationship.  This will help you to not appear too greedy, knowing that you will make more money on the backed.

3.  Don’t ever volunteer to reduce your proposed fee. Simply state what your fee is.  Make your client ask for a fee reduction.  If you see the client is having trouble accepting your fee, don’t volunteer to reduce your fee.  Doing this reduces your credibility and makes you look weaker.

4.  If the client wants to reduce the fee, then take out some of the value from the package. For example take out some research you were going to do or a survey you were planning.  The client has to know that for a reduced fee, they get reduced value.

5.  Provide lots of options. People love to add on options so give them a chance too.  Give them a good offer, but not one that is deluxe.  Then is your offer have a base price, and then have a few more packages where you add more value.  By doing this you can easily get higher fees.
